CFPB Announces Filing Instructions for Nonbank Registration
The CFPB recently issued a Filing Instructions Guide and other resources to help nonbank companies comply with the new Nonbank Registration Rule.
The rule requires specific businesses to register information about their company and certain court or agency orders with the CFPB. The Filing Instructions Guide explains how to submit the required information through the CFPB’s Nonbank Registry. The CFPB also offers sample forms and resources to help with the registration process.
Important Dates:
- Registration Opens: As early as October 16, 2024 (see below for specific deadlines)
- Larger CFPB-Supervised Nonbanks: October 16, 2024 – January 14, 2025 (Deadline: January 14, 2025)
- Other CFPB-Supervised Nonbanks: January 14, 2025 – April 14, 2025 (Deadline: April 14, 2025)
- All Other Covered Nonbanks: April 14, 2025 – July 14, 2025 (Deadline: July 14, 2025)
The CFPB has also established a Nonbank Registry Help email address (NBRHelp@cfpb.gov) to answer questions about registration and compliance.
