CFPB Highlights Available Spanish Language Disclosures
The CFPB recently compiled a list of the Spanish language translations it has made available for various regulatory disclosures under its purview. The blog post highlighting these resources states that the CFPB encourages financial service providers “to provide fair and transparent access to products and services to people who are more comfortable using a language other than English.”
In addition to noting the agency’s previous 2021 guidance on serving consumers with limited English proficiency (see WBK’s coverage here), the CFPB lists and links to the following disclosures that it has made available in Spanish:
- Adverse action sample notices;
- Certain mortgage origination documents, including the Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure, the Your Home Loan Toolkit, the Consumer Handbook on Adjustable-Rate Mortgages, and the Home Equity Line of Credit booklet;
- Early intervention clauses for mortgage servicers;
- Credit reporting notices, including those that explain a firm offer of credit and that outline a consumer’s rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act;
- Prepaid card model forms; and
- Debt collection model validation notice.
