CFPB Names Director of Recently-Created Office of Innovation

Paul Watkins has been selected to head of the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection’s new Office of Innovation, which will focus on encouraging consumer friendly innovation, focusing on creating policies to facilitate innovation, engaging with entrepreneurs and regulators, and reviewing outdated and unnecessary regulations.

Watkins comes to the Bureau from the Arizona Office of the Attorney General, where he was in charge of fintech initiatives and Chief Counsel of the Civil Litigation Division.  He was previously in private practice.
