Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities Publishes Fair Housing Notice

On July 1, 2016, pursuant to Connecticut Senate Bill 152 (SB 152), the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities published on its website a one-page disclosure form (Fair Housing Notice) containing information on housing discrimination and federal and state fair housing laws. Each person who offers a residential property containing two or more units in Connecticut for sale, exchange or for lease with option to buy must attach a photocopy, duplicate original, facsimile transmission or other exact reproduction or duplicate of the Fair Housing Notice, signed by the prospective purchaser, to any purchase agreement, option or lease containing a purchase option, at the time of closing. This new requirement goes into effect on August 30, 2016.
