Consumer Leasing Act (Regulation M) Annual Threshold Adjustments
The CFPB recently issued annual threshold adjustments under the Consumer Leasing Act and its implementing regulation, Regulation M, 12 CFR part 1013 (Bureau Interim Final Rule). Under the Consumer Leasing Act, thresholds are to be adjusted annually for inflation by the annual percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (“CPI-W”), as published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Based on the CPI-W in effect as of June 1, 2016, the exemption threshold will remain at $54,600 through 2017.
