CISA Issues Updated Guidance on Critical Infrastructure Workers during COVID-19
On March 28, 2020, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued updated guidance on the identification of essential critical infrastructure workers during the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The updated guidance clarified the functions of existing critical infrastructure workers and listed additional workers in each industry that CISA identified as critical infrastructure workers.
In the financial services sector, CISA expanded the categories of essential workers to include:
- workers necessary to maintain orderly market operations and the continuity of financial transactions and services;
- workers supporting the issuance of debit and credit cards; and
- workers providing electronic point of sale support for essential businesses and workers.
CISA added new sectors to the advisory list of critical industries and explained that the advisory list would be updated as the response to COVID-19 evolves. For additional information on CISA guidance, see WBK’s article on the initial guidance.
