Florida and Texas Extend COVID-19 Borrower Protections
The Florida Governor and the Texas Supreme Court have extended certain borrower protections through September 30, 2020, in response to COVID-19.
Florida’s Governor, Ron DeSantis, had previously issued Executive Order 20-180, granting eviction and foreclosure relief to borrowers affected by COVID-19. Such order was set to expire on September 1, 2020, and Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order Number 20-211 to extend the relief through September 30, 2020.
The Texas Supreme Court issued an emergency order to extend Texas’ eviction moratorium on residences that are subject to the CARES Act (housing financed by federal programs) through September 30, 2020.
