Florida DFS Amends License Application Procedures

The Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) recently amended the application procedures for loan originator, mortgage broker, mortgage broker branch office, mortgage lender, and mortgage lender branch office licenses.  The new application procedures became effective on January 18, 2021.

The license application procedures require each applicant to make specific submissions to the Office of Financial Regulation (OFR), including, but not limited to, NMLS forms and application fees.  Additionally, the OFR is required to review each application and inform the applicant of any additional information necessary to complete the review, typically within 30 days.  Applicants generally have 45 days to provide the additional information requested.  Other application procedures address amendments to pending applications, withdrawing applications, and obtaining a fee waiver.
