FTC Releases 2020 Do Not Call Registry Book
On October 27, 2020, the FTC published the National Do Not Call Registry Book for Fiscal Year 2020 (DNC). The DNC reports registration and complaint data, including data for each state. Notably, in FY 2020 the data indicates that there are 241.5 million phone numbers registered to opt-out of legal telemarketing calls.
The report states that there were 2.8 million complaints about robocalls, making up 71% of complaints in FY 2020. There were fewer than 1 million complaints about live calls. In total, there were about 4 million complaints in FY 2020; a decrease from the 5.4 million complaints in FY 2019. The DNC indicates that most complaints were made in October 2019, with the second-most complaints made in September 2020.
