Georgia COVID-19 Executive Order Regarding Witness and Notary Requirements
On March 31, 2020, Georgia’s Governor signed a COVID-19-related Executive Order allowing notaries public and witnesses to use real-time audio-video electronic communication technology or other similar means to communicate simultaneously with parties by sight and sound. The Order recognizes that real estate transactions normally require in-person interaction with a notary public or witness, and aims to promote the reduction of those interactions to the maximum extent possible. The provisions of the Order expire at the conclusion of the State’s Public Health State of Emergency.
