Iowa Enacts New Law to Allow Remote Notarizations

Governor Kim Reynolds signed into law on April 29, 2019, Senate File 475 which puts into place procedures for online notarizations.

Among other things, the bill establishes the requirements for conducting electronic and remote notarizations in Iowa. The law takes effect July 1, 2020, except that the requirement for the Secretary of State to prepare a notice of intended action for the adoption of these rules takes effect upon enactment.
