Mississippi Lowers Notarization Fees

Mississippi recently modified Chapter 9 of the notary rule regarding the amount a notary public can charge for notarial acts. This change became effective on July 1, 2021.

The change reduces the maximum fee that can be charged by notaries public for notarial acts to $5.  The newly adopted rule clarifies the $5 maximum fee is per signature when taking an acknowledgment, performing a jurat, and witnessing or attesting a signature, and $5 per person when administering an oath or affirmation. The revised rule eliminated the $5 fee for certifying an electronic document.

The revised rule can be found here.
