National Flood Insurance Program Gets Short-Term Extension

The President recently signed legislation, attached to a broader disaster aid package, to extend the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through the end of September.  Congress is currently working toward a proposed longer-term reauthorization of the NFIP before the September expiration date that would provide funding and also make reforms to the program. The NFIP has been subject to short-term extensions since 2017, in lieu of a long-term flood insurance deal.
