New Mexico Modifies Provisions Under Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts

New Mexico recently modified provisions of its Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts. Citing privacy concerns over the personal information contained in notarial journals, the legislature, on an emergency basis, repealed the section allowing members of the public to request journal entries and audiovisual recordings relating to specific notarial transactions. The New Mexico Legislature declared the immediate effect of this modification as necessary for the public peace, health, and safety.
