New York Extends Emergency Moratorium on Evictions and Foreclosures Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

Governor Andrew Cuomo recently signed an extension of both the COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020 and the COVID-19 Emergency Protect Our Small Businesses Act of 2021, generally extending certain protections for residential tenants and homeowners (as well as for certain small business commercial tenants and owners) suffering from hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic until August 31, 2021.  See WBK’s prior article here addressing the original legislation, under which such protections were otherwise set to expire on May 1, 2021.
