Texas Dropping In-State Office Requirement for Residential Mortgage Lenders
Texas is dropping the requirement that a residential mortgage lender doing business in the state must maintain an in-state office. Previously, Texas has required residential mortgage lenders to maintain either their main office or a branch office in the state. Texas House Bill 3617 is the primary bill changing the law, and Texas Senate Bill 1900 is a companion bill. The change will go into effect September 1, 2021.
