Washington Amends Rules to Implement Remote Notarizations
The Washington Department of Licensing recently amended its rules to include requirements for remote notarizations. The rule adds definitions for remote notarizations, processes for applying for remote notarization authority, and requirements for conducting remote notarial acts. The rule became effective March 14, 2021.
The rules also add new sections specific to remote notarial acts to include requirements for proving the identity of the individual, equipment and technology to be used, and recording of remote notarizations.
The rules can be found here.
